WELCOME HOME TO AVALON GARDENS

Retirees Ann & Charles Nau love their low-maintenece Patio Home.

After 48 years in a large single-family home, Ann and Charles Nau were ready for something a bit smaller. They also wanted something that required a lot less yard work. However, the couple did not want to live in a condominium. Fischer Homes Sales Counselor Rich Emery offered Ann and Charles the perfect solution-a spacious, detached, low-maintenece Patio Home. The couple decided to make the move and began a sales process that was "not at all stressful," according to Ann. She found the Fischer Homes staff to be pleasant, cooperative and happy to be doing what they're doing.

Before they knew it, Ann and Charles were were living in their new Sanibel Patio Home. They no longer have to spend hours maintaining nearly an acre of land, or cleaning the unused areas of their home. They found themselves with so much more free time that Ann describes the experience as "liberating." She and her husband also find they still have plenty of space for entertaining, and have enough room for their children and grandchildren when they visit.

These days, Charles has more time to play his trumpet with local bands, as he has for many years. Ann still dabbles in a bit of gardening; she maintains a little plot in the back yard. She also volunteers two days a week at the Once Around Thrift Shop, a store operated by Lutheran congregations that provides low-cost clothing and small household items to those in need. When music or volunteering isn't occupying their time, Charles and Ann like to play bridge with friends. Their trouble-free home also enables them to travel extensively.

Enjoying A New Community

The couple's new Patio Home is only five miles from their old home. Ann and Charles can still participate in social gatherings with friends. They visit the Batavia Public Library and have access to many other amenities they've enjoyed for years.

Ann and Charles also participate in several of the social activities offered by their Avalon Gardens community, such as picnics, the "gals" lunch and dinners out. The couple enjoys Avalon Gardens' lovely walking trail, and appreciates the mature trees in the new neighborhood. Their grandchildren are fond of the shared community greenspace, and spend plenty of time there when they visit.
