CONGRESS EXTENDS, EXPANDS HOME BUYER TAX CREDIT!

  • The $8,000 tax credit for first-time home buyers (or anyone who hasn't owned a principal residence during the last 3 years) has been extended until April 30, 2010.
  • A new $6,500 tax credit for move-up/repeat home buyers includes buyers who have owned and lived in their previous home for 5 consecutive years out of the last 8 years.
  • Tax credits do not have to be repaid.
  • To qualify, buyers in both groups must sign a purchase agreement by April 30, 2010 and close by June 30, 2010.
  • Buyers in both groups have annual income limits of $125,000 for single taxpayers and $225,000 for married couples.
  • The tax credits apply only to homes priced at $800,000 or less. Any home purchase must be used as principal residence for the purchaser.

For Fischer Homes single family homes to be built, buyer should sign a purchase agreement no later than January 15, 2010 in order to meet tax credit closing deadline of June 30, 2010.
