Lower HERS® Score. Greater Efficiency.
The HERS® (Home Energy Rating System) Score is the nationally recognized standard for measuring a home’s energy efficiency. The lower the score, the more energy-efficient the home.
A certified third-party energy rater evaluates each home using specialized software and on-site testing. The score is calculated based on Insulation levels and air sealing, window and door performance, heating and cooling system efficiency, ductwork design and leakage, water heating systems, overall home size and layout, blower door testing to measure air infiltration. The home’s performance is compared against a reference home built to standard code. A score of 100 represents the reference home. Every point lower than 100 reflects a percentage improvement in energy efficiency.
